There’s a new baby in my family - “Baby D” we call him, but his sweet name is Daniele and he’s the son of the sister of my husband. He’s just 4 months, was born in Cuba and we met him for the first time 2 weeks ago…. For Christmas, I figured I’d make a stocking for him for, not the mantle - there may be mantles in Cuba - but i imagine it hanging on the veranda or a window in his room.
I went “thrifting” and purchased a bundle of wool sweaters, with the intention of making a FEW (well….) stockings to hang by the chimney with care……………and the first attempt: A wee one for a wee one. It was too elf-like when I sewed it and turned it. Andy said “Elk-hoof like”. I said hmmmph…. I started again, designing it almost the same from the same green sweater.
And stuffed with little baby things like socks, Burt’s Bees Apricot baby oil (love-ly stuff) and chocolate for the sleep deprived but joyful parents, it looked rich and full.
Both stockings, side by side - maybe a lil’ deer will come for christmas. I have a mantle!

Those are really neat stockings. Cool idea to use and save old baby sweaters. Especially for we sentimental moms who HATE to throw anything away!
: )
BTW, Angie- thanks for the comments! I’ll be posting the pattern for the crochet flowers tonight. I really enjoy Kissmycraft! It’s growing by leaps and bounds now!!!

I’ve got a bunch of sweaters now too that i’ve used for my current stockings - photos on my site. i enjoyed making them, and i think i’ll use the rest of the sweater bits to make cosies for electronics.
